President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced the opening of a Social Security System (SSS) office in Seoul, Republic of Korea, to make government services more accessible to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Speaking before the Filipino community in Busan, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of Filipinos abroad.
He said the new SSS office will be located at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, allowing Filipinos in South Korea to process their membership, contributions, and claims without returning to the Philippines.
“It will now be easier to avail of SSS benefits and services such as membership, contributions, and claims without having to go home to the Philippines,” he said.
Marcos also announced that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is preparing to open a Philippine Consulate in Busan next year to serve Filipinos in Busan, Ulsan, and Gimhae.
The President is in the Republic of Korea to participate in the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting and related activities in Gyeongju.
