The Embassy of Oman in Manila marked the Sultanate’s National Day on Wednesday with a reception celebrating the Gulf nation’s rich heritage, progress, and deepening partnership with the Philippines.
In his keynote address, Ambassador Nasser Said Abdullah Al Manwari reflected on significance of the occasion, tracing Oman’s modern foundations to the establishment of the Al Bu Said state on November 20, 1744, when Imam Ahmad bin Said unified the country. He honored generations of Omani leaders who safeguarded stability and steered the nation’s growth, adding that this year’s observance carries special meaning under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, whose vision blends tradition with modern advancement.
Al Manwari reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to diplomacy, neutrality, and respect for international law, including the country’s “unwavering position in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

The ambassador also spotlighted the 45th anniversary of Oman–Philippines diplomatic ties, describing the relationship as built on “mutual respect, shared values, and genuine friendship.”
“This year holds special significance for Oman-Philippines as we celebrate the 45th anniversary of our diplomatic ties, established on the 6th of October 1980,” he said “Over the decades, our relations have grown in strength and scope, grounded in mutual respect, shared values, and genuine friendship.”
He pointed to key developments this year, including bilateral consultations in Manila, the first Oman–Philippines Investment Forum, and discussions on expanded employment cooperation.

“In July of this year, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi paid an official visit to the Philippines and co-chaired by the first Oman-Cebu Investment Forum, the period also saw the visit of His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Said Ba-owain, Minister of Labor who discussed cooperation in labor and employment,” the ambassador said.
A notable milestone was the signing of a Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders, along with other agreements to strengthen bilateral collaboration.
These developments reaffirm that our partnership is not only long-standing but dynamic and forward-looking, marked by stronger exchanges, deeper cooperation, and shared aspirations for peace and prosperity,” Al Manwari said.

He also shared that plans are underway to expand travel options, including a possible direct flight to Cebu and more routes from Manila via other airlines. Oman Air currently operates direct flights between Manila and Muscat.
The ambassador outlined Oman Vision 2040, highlighting reforms in public spending, renewable energy initiatives, and the goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Efforts to expand natural reserves to 31 protected areas and plant over three million trees underscore the country’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
He concluded by emphasizing that Oman’s achievements reflect a journey “built on sincerity and achievement,” with the Sultanate striving to foster peace and contribute to global progress.
