The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh hosted HuwebeSine on October 30, 2025, showcasing a curated selection of Filipino films from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in collaboration with Bakunawa Fest.
The event served as a cultural gathering for the Filipino community, celebrating the richness of Philippine storytelling through films that explored themes of myth, imagination, and fantasy.
It also aimed to promote contemporary Filipino cinema and strengthen cultural ties among Filipinos abroad.
The Embassy presented a lineup of acclaimed short films, including Old World by Roland Cartagena, which follows a poacher whose encounter with a mysterious object in the forest sparks a surreal reflection on grief and memory; As I Await You to Be Mine by Linus Masandag, a lo-fi love story told through still photographs; Indigo by Ace Balbarez, which evokes forgotten histories that linger in the present; and Ligawang Malay by Redsh Alba, a poignant exploration of identity and romance amid modern challenges.
Through HuwebeSine, the Embassy highlighted the power of film as a medium for cultural expression and community engagement, reaffirming its commitment.
