The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles joined Clark County officials and the Filipino-American community in the historic unveiling of Filipino Town at the Boulevard Mall along South Maryland Parkway on October 10.
Led by Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom, the event marked the official designation of the city’s newest cultural district, celebrating the contributions of more than 200,000 Filipinos who call Las Vegas home.
Segerblom described the creation of Filipino Town as a “meaningful tribute” to the community’s enduring impact to the city’s culture and development..
Philippine Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz expressed deep appreciation to Clark County for recognizing the Filipino-American legacy.
“Today, our heritage and identity are seen, honored, and celebrated. As we commemorate Filipino American History Month, let this historic moment remind us of our place in Nevada’s story,” Cruz said.
The unveiling was attended by hundreds of community members, local leaders, and special guests, and featured traditional Filipino performances, live music, and the presentation of a new street sign bearing the name “Filipino Town.”
Among the guests of honor were Philippine Senator Risa Hontiveros and Honorary Consul in Las Vegas Bella Aurora Belmonte, who both expressed pride in the establishment of a cultural hub that will allow future generations of Filipino-Americans to stay connected to their roots.
