The Philippines and Slovenia signed a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) to enhance cooperation on labor mobility, employment facilitation, and the protection of migrant workers.
The signing, held virtually on October 22 between the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Employment Service of Slovenia (ESS), reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to promoting safe, orderly, and ethical labor migration.
The declaration builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed on March 11, which outlines the framework for deploying and protecting Filipino workers in Slovenia.
Under the new agreement, the DMW and ESS aim to develop concrete programs and mechanisms to strengthen institutional partnerships, improve worker protection systems, and create more employment opportunities for Filipinos in Slovenia.
“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that Filipino workers in Slovenia are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect at every stage of their employment journey,” said DMW Undersecretary Jainal Rasul Jr.
ESS Director General Greta Metka Barbo Škerbinc said the partnership “bridges and connects not only our institutions but also our people,” emphasizing that it promotes fair labor mobility and ethical recruitment.
