The Philippine government extended its condolences to the Royal Family and the people of Thailand following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Mother Sirikit.
In a statement, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed profound sorrow, describing the late Queen Mother as a symbol of kindness, grace, and compassion whose influence reached far beyond Thailand’s borders.
“With heartfelt sadness, we mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Her kindness, grace, and warmth touched so many lives, including ours,” the President said.
Marcos highlighted the Queen Mother’s enduring friendship with the Philippines, noting that her genuine spirit of compassion has long served as a source of strength and inspiration for the country.
“During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family and the Thai people. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her legacy of love continue to inspire us,” he added added.
Queen Sirikit, the wife of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and mother of the current monarch, King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X), suffered a stroke in 2012 and had since remained out of the public eye. She passed away Friday night at the age of 93, the Royal Palace of Thailand announced.
Renowned for her humanitarian work, Queen Sirikit dedicated her life to social welfare, education, and the preservation of Thai culture.
A one-year mourning period has been declared for members of the royal family and household.
