To celebrate the United Nations’ 80th anniversary, the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo donated commemorative stamps and first-day covers to Postal Museum Japan, highlighting the Philippines’ role as a founding member.
The event also marked the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union, the main international body for postal cooperation, of which both the Philippines and Japan are members.
Chargé d’Affaires Christian De Jesus led the turnover ceremony, presenting the commemorative items to Postal Museum Japan Executive Fellow Eisuke Fujimoto.

The museum features a vast collection of global and Japanese stamps, including 3,660 from the Philippine dating back to 1864.
De Jesus described the museum as “a remarkable showcase of the connection between art and history, and the lasting role of postal systems in connecting hearts and minds.”
The UN commemorative stamp and first-day cover were launched on June 25, through a collaboration between the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost). The designs were created by Third Secretary Marthy Angue of the Philippine Mission to ASEAN in Jakarta.
