The Philippines and Norway reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral relations and explore new areas of cooperation during the 7th Philippines–Norway Political Consultations held on October 24, at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Building in Pasay City.
The meeting was co-chaired by Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for European Affairs Deena Joy Amatong and Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General for Regional Affairs Signe Brudeset. Ambassador Enrico Fos also co-headed the Philippine delegation.
Both sides reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and discussed opportunities for collaboration in various fields, including maritime cooperation, trade and investment, renewable energy and the blue economy, peace and development, defense, social security, labor and migration management, and people-to-people exchanges.
The delegations also exchanged views on regional and global developments and expressed optimism about concluding several bilateral cooperation agreements in the near future.
Established in January 2014, the Philippines–Norway Political Consultations serve as a key mechanism for both counrries to assess progress, align policy priorities, and identify new areas of partnership.
