The Philippine Pavilion at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka has won the Silver Award for Exhibition Design, conferred presented by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the body that oversees and regulates World Expos.
The award recognizes self-built pavilions with plots under 1,500 square meters that showcase outstanding exhibit design and storytelling. The Philippines stood out among entries from 158 participating countries and regions, highlighting the nation’s artistry and ingenuity on a global stage.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said the award is a testament to the Filipino people’s creativity, warmth, and authenticity.
“Through tourism, we continue to build livelihoods, protect traditions, and spark innovation that uplifts lives. This global affirmation strengthens our resolve to show that the Philippines is, and will always be, a source of beauty, resilience, and hope for the world,” Frasco said.
Led by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as Commissioner General and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) as Secretary General, the Philippine Organizing Committee commissioned the Pavilion’s design and experience team. Since its opening in April, the Pavilion has drawn over 1.1 million visitors under the theme “Nature, Culture & Community — Woven Together for a Better Future.”
The Pavilion features a live performance facade made of woven panels crafted by weaving communities from all 18 regions of the Philippines, along with large-scale woven scrims inside. It also offers AI-powered and interactive installations, including the Dancing with Nature experience, AI photobooths, a curated Habi Shop, a Hilot wellness corner, and the Hain take-out counter.
The DOT said the Pavilion also served as a platform for cultural diplomacy, tourism promotion, and trade networking, hosting events such as Philippine National Day celebrations, MICE roadshows, and investment meetings.
