The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Philippines recently held a two-day conference highlighting the Russian language and culture as lasting bridges of friendship between Russia and the Philippines.
Held on October 13 and 14, the event gathered more than 80 participants from various sectors, including representatives from higher education institutions and cultural advocates across the country.
In his remarks, Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov described language as “one of the enduring bridges of friendship between nations” and expressed gratitude to those who continue to promote Russian language and cultural exchange in the Philippines.
Department of Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for Cultural Diplomacy Celia Anna Feria, who graced the event, emphasized language “as a tool for mutual understanding between the peoples of Russia and the Philippines,” and reaffirmed the DFA’s readiness to expand bilateral cooperation.
Participants discussed modern approaches to teaching Russian, educational opportunities in Moscow for Filipino students and ways to strengthen academic partnerships between Philippine and Russian universities.
The conference also featured an exhibit on the works of Alexander Pushkin’s and paintings by Russian artist Marina Khankova, titled “The Fabulous Code of the Russian Soul.”
The Embassy said it plans to hold another conference next year, as part of activities leading to the 50th anniversary of Russia-Philippines diplomatic relations.
